Best plants on a sunny dry slope?

The front yard is a steep incline and is baked by the sun during the day. I am thinking about planting creeping red thyme due to the need to have something that is able to sustain the heat and erosion. I saw abodelook has some great bulk ground cover bargains at the current. Is it fast-growing enough to be able to be used in a large area during a single season or should I purchase more than I have estimated I need?
