Crocosmia grows in slightly acidic to neutral soils that are well drained. The soils that are heavy clay should be enriched with compost or sand to avoid waterlogging. Rich soft soil promotes vigorous growth of roots and increased floral production. Frequent mulching with organic substances also maintains moisture and prevents weeds. It should not be too wet as this may cause the bulb to rot and needs at least 6 hours of sunlight every day to grow well.
