Oil change on my Compass – synthetic or conventional, and how often really?

I've got a 2019 Jeep Compass that I mainly use for commuting and the occasional road trip, nothing too extreme, but I'm getting conflicting advice about the oil change intervals and I'm starting to get confused about what's actually best for my engine. The manual says every 10,000 kilometers or 12 months, but my neighbor who's a mechanic insists that in this climate I should be doing it every 5,000 to 7,000 kilometers because the heat breaks down the oil faster, especially if I'm not using top-quality synthetic stuff. I've been using the recommended 5W-30 synthetic so far, but I've noticed that some shops try to push conventional oil because it's cheaper, and I'm not sure if that's actually a bad thing or if they're just trying to save money at my expense. I've also read that the oil filter quality matters just as much as the oil itself, because a cheap filter can clog up and bypass, sending unfiltered oil through the engine and causing wear over time. The thing that's really bothering me is that I don't have a trusted mechanic yet since I moved to Khalifa City recently, so I'm nervous about just picking a random shop and hoping they do a good job. A colleague at work mentioned a place that offers Expert Jeep Oil and Filter Change in Khalifa City and said they were thorough and used genuine parts, which gives me some confidence, but I'm still not sure about the interval question because I don't want to over-service the car and waste money, but I also don't want to under-service it and cause long-term damage. Has anyone here with a Compass or similar engine found that the manufacturer's recommended interval works fine, or do you shorten it based on the extreme conditions here? I'd really appreciate some real-world experiences from fellow owners because I want to keep this car running well for years to come without spending more than I need to on maintenance.
